What's the best Brand Multifunction Printer and Economical to run for up to $230 HP or Canon?
I only need it for printing good quality brochures and cards on colours and occasionally uses the scanner. I haven't used the fax in the past so I assume I won't be needing it now. The forums at Whirpool doesn't recommend Epson as the print head built into the printer so if it gets clogged, it can't be removed and will require sending back to Epson to fix. And the cleanning system involves pushing ink thro' the head to flush out impurities - which it does but at the cost of a fair amount of ink. And needed constant aligning of print heads (which uses about 15-20% of EACH cartridge to do once and it often needed 2 or 3 loops to get it right). It recommended Canon as it offers the best all-round package: Excellent cost-effective printing with removable print-head and individual ink tanks on many of their models. However the sales man at Domayne suggested HP is the best brand and ecomomical to run in the market. What do you think? I'll appreciate it if someone reply to this asap as I got to make up my mind by tomorrow cos I've to return Epson Stylus Office TX610FW. Thank you so much! Chloe

- Right now www.shopping.hp.com is offering HP officejet 6500 for $99. with free shipping. abt.com is offering Canon Pixma mx330 for $99. free shipping. Both are very competitive. If you have windows 7 you may have to download the software and drivers but that can be done. Read the reviews they may help. Lee
- The advice to avoid Epson rubbish is correct. I have known several people who had been unfortunate enough to buy them and have had to have them replaced 3 time + in the year. The print heads are rubbish that clog and as they are fixed the whole machine has to be replaced rather than the part. After the warranty ends you are left with a piece of junk that you have to either replace with a none Epson machine or pay a fortune to repair it. Canon as a make are suberb. I have two and both are now out of warranty going strong and the only trouble I had was a need to repalce one of their printheads which was delived by Canon the next day without so much as me having to send the old one back to proof it was faulty! After that not one single thing has gone wrong with them and I am a heavey printer user. I popped the old printhead one out and the new one in in seconds as apposed to you having to send back the whole machine to Epson! Not only that but as Canon printheads are removable you can unblock them. I know have a spare unblocked printhead so if the other one blocks I place the old one in and unblock the new one and so on. Canon did not wish to repair the one I had they prefered to supply a brand new out of the box! Canon are on the phone with you for as long as you need them to resolved any problmes you may have. They email you up after the event to ensure you are still problem free. Canon has the best customer services I have ever used. Epson, when I was stupid enough to have one of their machines, were horrendously unhelpful. The Canon MP620 is getting good reviews and has multi inks and removable printhead. No printer is economical as they all change too much for ink. Return the Epson or you will be sorry when it gives you nothing but problems. Everyday on here there are question after question about problems with Epsons. The same problems of blocked printhead and new inks that the printers refuse to recongise. Get rid of the headache and give your self a happy new year. HP printers are also nice reliable machines. Get anything but an Epson!
- get a canon, i got an HP and i dont like it. it is a big ink eater, it eats ink like crazy. Dont do the same mistake i did. Get a Canon
