Do new printers have epmty ink cartridges?
I just bought a new HP printer, but the ink cartrige only lasted for about 50 pages. The sales guy says all new printers have cartridges only 20% full. Is this true? Why isn't everybody outraged by such a scam if true? It also is not environmentally friendly, since most people don't bother recycling them. I would think it only would cost them a few pennies to provide a full cartridge.

- It would say something on the box. Laser printers come with 1/2 filled toner and it states that on the box. Next time get an epson. Call HP and complain. They may send you new carts.
- Same scam as the way they sell all the battery operated gadgets with no battries they want you to buy ink and spend more money
- Its a common practice to supply cartridges with very little ink with new printers. After all, they make their money selling ink, not printers. Gillette started this practice with their razors ages ago; they charged next to nothing for the razor and made all their money on replacement blades.
- yes it is true and a big joke if everyone knew what big company's dump in our landfills there would be a boycott don't believe me just follow the dump truck from any big store and watch what falls out at the dump
- It is true that printers come with "Starter Cartridges" this was actually because people were replacing the printers, instead of the inks. Printers are often sold at a loss and the money is made via the consumable inks. In the grand scheme of things, selling a printer with full cartridges actually will cost a lot more than a few pennies as many consumers will just keep buying printers (sold at a loss) every time their ink runs out. All printer manufacturers sell printers will trial cartridges. I would strongly suggested recycling your cartridges, it does only take a few moments and every little bit helps.
