How to install a HP Laser Jet 2200D printer onto a Windows 2000 computer without using Internet?
I've tried for two weeks now. I got the driver but I dont think it actually works. It's a project I've been working on, putting a printer on one computer and beeing able to use it by lan with no central server kinda thing.

- HP PCL (printer control language) is backwards compatible, so if you cannot find a 2200 driver, you can use anything close to it, like HP LaserJet 2000 or 2100. In fact when we had a 2200dtn at work I printed to it from Wordperfect 5.1 in DOS using a parallel cable and HP LaserJet III driver. Although, certain drivers might not duplex on it if the driver for the selected printer did not have duplex (double sided printing). Similarly the HP LJ 2200 driver worked with the 2340 we had after that or the 3005 we have now. As far as sharing the printer on your network, you just need to have file and printer sharing properly configured and enabled and not blocked by a firewall.
- The driver does work if you can PRINT to the HP from within W2K. "putting a printer on one computer and being able to use it by lan with no central server" Enable Printer Sharing on the W2K PC, and leave that PC running, and the printer running, too. Then, install the HP drivers on each PC on your LAN. Then, follow the instructions in the "HP User Manual" to connect each new PC to the printer over your network.
