Best place to learn about digital cameras in Chicago?

Hi, The Chicago Photography Center's Digital Photography Boot Camp isn't for another month (Sigh, I JUST missed one) but I'm not sure I'm looking for that sort of thing anyway. I'm looking for a place to go where I can ask questions of knowledgeable people who won't get impatient with this novice, and I can learn more about digital cameras and what sort of cameras might suit me. I'm in Chicago. Any ideas?

1. There are some flickr groups that are active in Chicago and have periodic meetups. The West Chicago Suburban Flickrers gets together once a month or so. I believe there is a Chicago version of that as well. Another place to consider is trying to find a photography club in your immediate area. I'm not in one but have at least been tempted to try the one in Downers Grove (also in the western burbs). If all else fails, I'm in Wheaton and you can send me any questions.
