What are some good Digital cameras?

I want a digital camera for christmas but i am not sure what to get. I really like photography and next year I will be taking a class that I will need a digital camera in. So I want it to be good but I am also young so I want to make sure it is cute. I don't really care about the color. I want black or silver. I am also looking for reviews if you have a camera you really like tell me about it. Also I can't buy anything too expensive. Nothing over 250 please Thank you for your help!

Before you spend ANY money, check with your instructor and see if you will need a fully adjustable camera. If you do, the $250 is not nearly enough to buy what you need as a digital camera. They cost more like $470 and up, with a lens. I am surprised that a beginning photo class would require a student to have a DSLR. If instead, you will be using a 35 mm SLR film camera, then you can get a great used Nikon or Canon for under $150
definitely look into canon and nikon. those are easily the best cameras to have. i have a canon powershot, and it's amazing! i love it so much. i mean, it was 400 dollars, but so worth it. but before i had this camera, i had a canon powershot that was 250, that was amazing, as well. but do not go for kodak, regardless of the price; they're terrible quality. if you're into photography stick with canon and nikon. and look at best buy, walmart, etc. mine was bought at best buy, online.
Well. If you wont go over 250 then you cant get anything thats worthy of producing photography. I think for 250 you can try to get the Canon G11. Excellent Point and shoot. The highest of the low budget class. For a beginner DSLR (big kind with exchangeable lens) you could get a Canon Rebel XS for 500 bucks. or a Nikon D60 for the same price. 250 isnt much to spend on a nice camera but if thats all you have then either the Canon G11 or the Nikon P90. Both Excellent cameras and you couldnt go wrong with either...
