What the difference of buying a HP computer online through HP itself or buying the HP computer at?

a store (i.e. Costco, PC RIchard, staples, etc.)

1. You may get a better price in the store, and you get immediate satisfaction, in that you can take it home right away and not have to wait for delivery. On the other hand, you may have more options for configuration online, and more models to choose from. Configure and price what you want online, then take that to a store and see if they can match the configuration and beat the price.
2. Better pricing, Definately, no Shippin & handling costs immediately you recieve the product...easier to return/ exchange...\ :) Better all around
