Why does my HP Digital Camera have horizontal lines with pink discoloring only on still photos but not video?

I can take videos with no problem but standard photo taking returns with faint horizontal lines with the background a faint pink color. I've tried resetting the camera and tried a different sd card also with no luck. Any idea what is causing this to happen and how to fix it?

1. About 4 years ago I had an Olympus C60 with sporadic horizontal banding, and Olympus warranty service could never get it fixed right. After I raised a fuss they exchanged it for another model. If your camera is out of warranty, there is probably nothing you can do to fix it but shop for a new camera.
