What are the color printers that use "wax" for ink called?

I need to buy a printer for my company that is economical. I used to work for a place that used a printer utilizing wax cubes for ink. You could literally get 1000's of color images from one set of wax cubes. I have no idea what they are called. Does any one know and also if you do know, what one would you recommend?

  1. "wax"???
  2. Never heard of it. If you want to save money in ink then get a CISS. Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month. http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/
  3. What you are looking for is called "Solid Ink". As far as I know Xerox is the only printer manufacturer that makes solid ink color printers that were introduced in 1991. They are very economical & use the solid wax blocks that you load into the printer and then are melted and sprayed to create the print. Below are a couple of web links to Xerox for the current models available: http://www.office.xerox.com/solid-ink/solid-ink-printers/enus.html http://www.office.xerox.com/solid-ink/enus.html Best of luck.
