difference between all nikon digital cameras,help?

1. What you are asking for is a 400 page encyclopedia - and no-one here is ready to provide that. If you do not know what the explanations mean, you need to research them first because the manuals are big and have the same terms in them. I think if you buy a Nikon you couldn't get it to work better than a point and shoot. If you ask one or two questions at a time you will get quick answers. You need to decide what you want to use it for. For instance, throw it over your shoulder to get attention? The more expensive, the more attention. Every Nikon and probably most cameras are good for something - it depends what you want to get from them.
2. If money is no object, go for the D3X! I suspect you mean a pro-sumer camera that has the lion's share of pro features at a somewhat affordable price. Nikon DSLRs are divided into tiers. The first being the D40/D60/D3000/D5000. Good for the beginner and amateur. Limited feature set, and lack auto focusing motors. You will need to stay with AF-S lenses (or 3rd party equivalent) to use autofocus. Still, these cameras are probably all the average photographer would need to get great quality pictures. Second tier would be the D90 and D300(D300s). The D90 is a great camera. I have one. It has a really good feature set and is somewhat affordable. It lacks weather sealing and other "pro" features that the D300 and up have. The D300 and new 300s are really the bottom of the pro line. Pro feature set with the APS-C sensor. The D700/ D3/ D3X are the top of the line full frame sensor cameras. Again, all boils down to your budget and how you plan to use the camera....

D3 - ultra professional "I have more money then I know what to do with" camera D700 - professional "I can't afford D3, but I want to look the part" camera D300s - semi-pro "my SLR shoots video/and it's built like a tank" camera D300 - semi-pro "my SLR can beat up your SLR" camera D90 - enthusiast "I don't need a D300 (but I really want it)" camera D80 - enthusiast "I got it off craigslist for a steal" camera D5000 - point&shoot grad "OMG it shoot pic AND video?" camera D40 - anyone "Look, I'm a photographer - what are all these button?" camera. If you can afford to, go with D300s it's built to withstand the elements and will last you through 150K cycles, if you're short on cash - go with D90, the 920K LCD screen DOES make a difference (+ servo motor).
