I have an HP dv 9000 that won't turn on. Have checked the power supply, reset the RAM?
and still no power. HP won't cover this under warranty even tho it has been a recurring problem. ANy one got an idea for relatively inexpensive fix?

- You may need to message me for further help, I might be able to help you troubleshoot, but really I need more information to make a more accurate diagnosis of your problem, but I'll give you some suggestions with what you have provided. If it will not turn on period (none of the lights like power light don't come on): Check these... Is your battery charged? Is your power cord plugged into both the wall and the computer properly? After that... If two RAM sticks, pull out both and then put back both and try to turn on. If no luck, pull out both RAM sticks and replace only one and try to turn on. If no luck swap the two RAM sticks leaving out the one you just used. If it turns on using just one RAM stick then the one that is pulled out is bad. If it does not turn on in either of the three scenarios then either your RAM is bad, or you have a powersupply problem. Only way to test after that is to try a different power supply, if that works then you know the answer, if that doesnt work you can try new RAM. If it will power on but won't load windows: Either there is a bad stick of RAM, follow the trouble shooting from above for RAM sticks, or the HDD is not working. Reseat the HDD, if that does not work and it is not the RAM then you may have a bad HDD. In this situation you could have a bad boot sector or windows istallation as well, but if that is the case you would receive some sort of error message when the computer attempts to boot. In either case, this seems like you have a hardware problem, if it is a hardware problem then HP should cover it, don't let them give you any crap, if your laptop is less than a year old then you have a 1 year limited warranty that covers hardware issues only, not software, unless it is the case this probelm started after you personally tried to alter the harware in some way, then HP will not cover it at all because you voided your warranty. If less than a year old let Geek Squad perhaps ship it to the manufacturer (Will need proof of purchase) and let them deal with HP if HP won't help you.
