How to Operate Laser Printer DELL MFP 1600N?

Recently I bought a Laser Printer DELL MFP 1600N to be used with my DELL Laptop notebook Vostro 1500. But I have not been able to do so. I installed the software which came with the printer, but the printer does not operate. On the display window of the printer, it displays "Unlock scanner" which I have not been able to do. Whenever any print job is given, it does not show any reaction. Please let me know how to operate this device, this is the first multifunction laser printer I ever bought.
