Help installing a Dell 3010cn Laser printer on XP?

I've just got a refurbished 3010cn. When I plug it into my computer, it sees it but lists it in device manager as a 'Unknown Device'. When I try to reinstall with the official Dell driver, it says the file contains no information about my hardware, and it will not let me change it. Is there any way around this? How can I install it? Thanks in advance, John
