Are Hp pavilion laptops good?

Are the HP pavilion laptops any good for school work and such? Do they have a long battery life?

1. can't beat an hp. great service if you have a problem.Barrery life depends on what ,you, are using and how long.
2. You might not want a pavilion for school work. Those are entertainment computers, and are built for playing movies, games, videos.... I don't know much about battery life, but know this- do NOT leave your laptop plugged in for long periods of time. Turn it off and pull out the power cord. I used to leave it in, and now my laptop's battery life is 5 minutes.
3. In my opinion, HP pavilion laptops are excellent, with long battery.............but with windows vista. I'd prefer W. XP or W 7 but the rest of the hardware and software is superb.
