  1. Nope, just like inkjets toner is dependent on the printer and they are all different. Life of the toner is calculated by the amount of pages it can print, but laser toner is a very thin powder, so it will not dry out like an inkjet; which is liquid, if you don't use it too often the toner might settle inside the cartridge, all you have to do is take the cartridge out and gently shake it side to side then put it back in. In my experience toner can last a year or more as long as it is stores in a cool dry space. I suggest you buy from a third party supplier like this: http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/toner-cartridges/Lexmark/E330.html they will save you a lot of money versus the band name and there is virtually no difference. I would advise you against refilling the cartridge yourself, even though this is available toner is highly carcinogenic.
  2. Laser toner does not evaporate or dry up or disappear. Toner will last to the last drop even if you do not use your laser for 5 years. If you don't use it for a while, the laser toner tends to compact itself. All yo have to do is remove the cartrdige, rock it side to side and put it back in and it will work fine. This is a normal procedure for ALL laser toners even when you use it regularly. You have to rock the cartrdige once in a while.
