Has your laptop monitor ever burnt out and needed replacing?
Or do you know anyone this has happened to? It happened to my ex.. he had a toshiba and those are really good machines. One day the monitor screen just suddenly went black and we didnt even know what the problem was until we took it in for repairs and he said the monitor needed replacing. Well i'm now using an hp pavillion and i've had it for 2 years now. When i bought this laptop, the sales guy told me it would last only 2 years. I've sent it in for repairs a lot but lately, i've been very careful with it and stuff and everything's going well. I just find myself worrying about the monitor. How long do they usually last?

- A repair man might be able to fix it for very little - might just be a simple fuse or resistor burnt out. Make sure that your electronic equipment gets plenty of air around them. Monitors that are enclosed will get hot and burn out quicker - same for laptop computers that get set on beds, carpets, etc where air can't get all around them.
- How long they will last is relative to it's usage. I recommend that you just fear not and use away!!! I'm a repair tech, I've replaced mostly Toshiba screen (my own included due to back light failure) and Dell screens.
- i have never had a HP laptop last less than 5 years before i replaced it ,and that was because of updating computers not because of problems
- I've seen it happen. I guess it is the luck of the draw, because I have had laptops last over five years with no problems at all.
