Where/how can I replace my damaged HP Laptop LCD screen for cheap? Is it worth it?

My HP Laptop LCD screen got cracked and I need to know if I should replace it. I've found that a replacement could be more than $300.

1. I will just go to best buy and get a monitor cheap!
2. It is not worth it. You can probably get a better computer cheaper than you could fix the screen.
3. It would really help if you told us what model HP it is and then it really depends on the age and model of the laptop. If it is more than 3 years old I would say no it is not worth fixing unless you can find a used/reconditioned screen for less. $300 seems like a lot for an LCD replacement for an HP Laptop. I purchased a 2 year old off-lease lenovo thinkpad for less than $300.
4. not worth it. just buy a new computer at Best Buy or another store.
