i just bought an hp laptop computer... why arent the speakers working?

the computer thinks the speakers are working fine... but they are not playing any sounds

1. On mute or setting turn off or turn way down.
2. im not sure ask the hp company to fix your speakers hope this helped please rate me
3. If they are external speakers, not part of the monitor, then check to be sure the green speaker cable is connected to the green jack on your hp system board. It probably does not have a discrete sound card like a custom built system. Also, check to be sure they are not muted by the Windows or the audio software.
