problem with hp laptop computer start up?

i have windows vista.It was working properly i turned it off, the next day when i wanted to ise it it wouldnt start. There is this windows telling me to start windows normally or to launch start up repair..I tried both of them but nothing.. i dont know would it be a virus or the mother board?? What can i do ?

1. I have two HP laptops - I got rid of Vista and installed Windows 7, now they scream. Check out www,hsst,com seach for windows 7......

It sounds like a virus, my laptop with VISTA did the same thing I had to use the disk that came with the computer and format the hard-drive and reinstall everything. unfortunately doing this you will lose all data on you computer. If you can get it to boot from the CD you may be able to save you data on a flash drive or something just make sure you scan it with an updated virus Scanner prior to re-coping your data back. To get it to boot from a cd: turn it off then turn it back on and press the F8 key while is is starting up is should get you to a screen that you can tell it to boot from the CD. Good Luck.
