What happened to my Hp Laptop warranty if i bought it from a store that shut down?

I bought my Hp Laptop from circuit city, but the store shut down in every location, did my warranty go to waste? I am having trouble with the laptop and i really do not want to buy a new one...if i send it to hp will they do anything about it?

  1. Unless you bought the extended warranty, there's no change. Warranties are offered by manufacturers, not retailers. So, HP should be the ones who own the warranty, and therefore, it's as intact as it was the day you bought it (unless it's expired).
  2. Depending on how long ago you may have purchased the laptop, you should still have a warranty on it. If you still have coverage all hardware related warranty claims will be covered. It does not cover end user damage, but faults in workmanship in the product. I cannot tell you if you have coverage without knowing a few things, but if you would like, you can send me your serial number and product number on the HP sticker located on the bottom of your laptop, and I can run a warranty entitlement check for you. That way you will know how long your warranty is valid for. As for any other warranties that you may have bought above and beyond, you will not be able to redeem them since Circuit City is no longer in business. Feel free to email me if you would like me to lookup your warranty information. EDIT: Here is the link if you would like to look the warranty information up yourself. http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyInput.do?admit=109447627+1244148091012+28353475
  3. You can check on HP's website to see if the warranty on your laptop is still good. You probably would have had a manufacturer's warranty on it, of 1 year. If you look up your product (using the model number found on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop) you will come up with the product support page for your item. From there, there should be a link on the left hand side to check warranty status. Fill in the requested information (found on that sticker on the bottom of your laptop) and it will tell you if your laptop is still covered under warranty or not. I would try consulting HP's website first, and if that fails, contact their support staff.
  4. I also bought my HP Pavilion laptop from Circuit City, in June 2007. I have been having problems with the laptop (again), so my dad called up HP and they said to bring the laptop to RadioShack. You don't have to box up the laptop or anything; RadioShack will package it and ship it to a company that will fix it. If you are still under warranty, I'm sure you can take advantage of this, as RadioShack is a nationwide store. Apparently, while Circuit City was still in business, they had insurance dealings with RadioShack so RadioShack agreed to take Circuit City's customers after they went down the tubes.
