What are some really good digital cameras?

I am looking to buy a digital camera at any cost. What are some good cameras? They can be any brand. I am using this as just a camera for travel and "at home photos" (like of our dog and family). Thanks :)

3. I have a Canon A630.It will probably last me the rest of my life.It does all kinds of cool stuff.
4. If you have a lot of money ($1000) then look into a nikon DSLR. Go to a local camera store and try all kinds of cameras. Even the $20,000 ones! (its a lot of fun and you can really see which brand is ahead in technology)
5. well i got a sony cyber shot camera from wal-mart and it takes really good pica and it was at a low price $100
