Ahhh! I've accidentally removed my sound mixer!!!! Help?

Alright, maybe it wasn't accidental, maybe I was just curious and stupid, which prompted me to uninstall SoundMax, by doing so, my sound is now gone. When I tried to reinstall, seems like I need some software, which I do not have because it was downloaded by a computer maintenance guy who fixed my computer before. What can I do? It seems the "Mixer" is missing and I have to reinstall, is there an ISO or some replacement I can use? These are my stats: Operating System System Model Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build 2600) Intel Corporation Processor a Main Circuit Board b 2.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 8 kilobyte primary memory cache 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache Board: Intel Corporation D845GEBV2 AAA97677-106 Serial Number: ABBV31237154 Bus Clock: 133 megahertz BIOS: Intel Corp. I don't think I need the codecs or drivers, I uninstalled SoundMax, and I'm wondering if I can install it back, for the type of computer I have, and for my computer to redetect my Multimedia or whatnot.

  1. It seems as if you've provided every possible bit of info about your computer except what is needed to find the right driver. That is your computer's manufacturer and, the manufacturer of the sound device. Go to your computer's manufacturers website and, search for audio drivers for your computer's model.
  2. Chances are that you need to reinstall the sound card driver. If the term "soundmax" is any clue, you might have an HP or Compaq with built in sound card. If that's the case, then this download should do the trick: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&swItem=PSG_I22839-107622&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
