How do u upload videos from your hp photosmart digital camera to your imovie on a mac?

I have gone on google, and typed in a lot of questions trying to find the answers, watching videos, but nothing worked. when i plug in my camera it uploads to my iphoto, but the videos do no upload. How do i upload them! I need to know how, i upload the pictures, but the videos dont show up, only pictures. Its from a DIGITAL CAMERA! NOT A CAMCORDER!
