Is this a good laptop for the price?
I'm a 15 year old high school student. I will be using this to go online write papers, email, music, movies, pictures. This need to be good enough to last about 4 or 5 years. We have a desktop computer at my house, but there always seems to be someone on it when I really need it. - well, my brother got all that w/o webcam and Microsoft Works for 1800. I would say that it is a good deal but if you were willing to spend that much, i would get a mac, run vista AND mac on the same laptop, excellent battery time (8hrs), plus, it's environmentally friendly!
- it would be a really good laptop and could possibly last longer with the free upgrades.
- This laptop is very good. You should really conside it. It has a nice stand alone graphics card DO NOT give that up. The cpu would be something I'd upgrade, though not nessesary. Don't get fooled into thinking you have "Free" upgrades. these are standard on most laptops now. the screen size is very nice but does it come with any warrenties? ASUS makes similar products but theirs have 2 year warrenties and 1 year accidental spill warrenties. Here was one I found that would be comprable to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220492 It's an allaround much better laptop. figure out what your hp will run you with the Best dual core cpu they offer, andthe 9650 mobile pgu and a two years extended warrenty and the one year accidental warrenty. It you are still unter $1400 go with the HP, if not, then think about this ASUS Good luck!
- for the most part, yes. but have you seen the hp mini? i got one 3 months back and its excellent for school. im also 15 but you dont need everything like that. got mine for $450 at circuit city but what you can do is buy the mini, then the dvd drive and office 2008, upgrade to 2GB RAM, get an extra 6 cell battery and the 10 inch screen. i got mine with the 60gb hard drive, 10 inch screen and im soon getting office and 2gb memory, and its fantastic! by far only 60gb is enough for your photos and stuff but you can also get an extra flash drive which is what ive done. now if youre gonna be gaming then this is not the one but other than that its perfect. smaller than my folder, easy to carry around, and you can save a whole bunch of money over that one you saw. trust me, its an amazing little machine. also it does not come with vista but windows xp so you dont have to deal with all the problems with vista. excellent for myspace, youtube, etc. and reports. done ots of reports on this thing and im most usually bringing i to school to work with it. save money, get the mini plus upgrades, and if you do join myhpmini.com!
- As for the last 4 or 5 years part, please remember that ALL consumer-level Laptops / Notebooks / Netbooks are built for PORTABILITY and not for DURABILITY or LONGEVITY. If you want your laptop to last, just take good care of it ! This being said, here is how to do more precise research to find out if this is the best one for YOU: As laptop specs change often, it is good to get non-vendor/non-partisan/non-groupie information so you should do some checking on these review/guide sites to help fine tune your search. At each site, start by checking this HP model and then compare it against others by choosing different options using boxes and drop down menus to customize the search and get what you want in your laptop. Your time will not be wasted (after all, you get all this from the comfort of your home) and you should find something to your liking and budget.
