I have purchased a HP- Compaq laptop. How should I test it whether it is really new or not?

I have purchased a HP- Compaq laptop from a local Electronics and computer shop. Want to know whether it is really new or not. Help

1. look through the hardrive..........................check through all of the files and see if there is any documents.hope it helpz!!!!!!!!
2. the only test you can do it is with a undelete program if something shows up even if it is corrupted, it means its reused.
3. There is also other way to find out.... Go to Accessories----->System Tools----->System restore----->create system restore ....and there you can see the calendar, if you find some names of the previous programs, then it must have been used, if you didn't find any programs, then it is brand new. Hope this helps :)
4. Buying a PC or Laptop is like pure lottery. Some times branded machines with warranty, will give constant headaches. Non-branded will be immaculate & vice versa. For the present - already invested - just enjoy computing. Rest - bhagwan ki krupa hai
