I replaced the ram in my HP Pavilion laptop and now the screen won't come on when I start my computer. Why?

My computer is an HP Pavilion ZV6000. It came with 256 Ram and I needed to update it. I purchased 1 G and now that I have replaced it my computer screen won't come on when I start my computer. I took it out and put the 256 back in and the screen works again. Any ideas?

1. Maybe you got the wrong ram, or something is wrong with the new ram.
2. Your new RAM is the wrong type for your computer.
3. um, i dont no much bout p.c.'s but my dad just did that to and his pc is fine. same 1 too! try calling the company, get money back or something. good luck!
