Is a Hp computer worth buying?

Really need a laptop that is good for students, such as myself. Needs to be under $700. I like to edit movies, have thousands of pictures and lots of music. That is all i need it for. Will an Hp laptop computer be able to give me what i want.

1. NO! don't do it - i've had mine for just a year and it started overheating months ago. the only program i put on it was itunes - no microsoft or anything.
2. All companies will have problems. I have owned a Compaq (in 2000 when they were separate from HP), a couple Toshibas, and an HP (17" screen). All of them have worked well for me. But, I also take precautions. I use an external cooling fan. And, I leave the operating system alone once it is configured the way I want it to be. It may be difficult to find a cheap laptop that will do all the things you want it to do.
