I want a better/new CPU...help?

for my Laptop, a HP dv9000. I have no idea where to start. I have a t2250@1.73GH with NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 with Windows XP. I'm starting to get to a point where i have a lot of programs running at once from media to simple word documents so I'm lookin for some speed and power in general. I already have bought upgraded RAM to 2 gig, not much but it was on sale. Would the new CPU help or should mine be good enough and something else is slowing it down? I've gone through the different config's and set it up to not use what's not needed also. for my Laptop, a HP dv9000. I have no idea where to start. 1. Yes a new cpu will help a BIT. However, you have to be sure that you can upgrade the cpu in the first place. A lot of those corporate hack job pre built (dell, sony,hp,etc)computers you can not replace the cpu.
  2. Buy a +2.0GHz CPU (if your computer is able to have such CPUs), and overclock it just SLIGHTLY, it will make a difference ^^.

  4. You first need to contact laptop vendor to find out what motherboard you have to find if it will be able to accept a new more powerful cpu, they will be able to give you a pretty accurate answer. I wouldnt get a new cpu and overclock in a laptop especially if you have never had any overclocking experience , not to mention overclocking creates more heat and laptops are not that great at expelling heat, you could end up doing very serious damage to your system. Just try contacting laptop maker first and go from there.
