How do I reset my HP Laptop with Vista?
I have an HP Laptop that has decided to slow to almost a complete stop despite running multiple virus software and most of the popular system tune-up programs. I'm kinda left with the thought that I need to do a total system restore and lose all my software that's installed. I got the computer from Circuit city and I can't find any restore disc that might have come with the laptop (it was an open box sale). So my question is: What's the best way to get a fresh start without losing all my drivers, settings, ect..if possible and is there any chance Circuit City might provide me with an HP restore disk if I should have had such a thing when I bought the computer? Is there somewhere on the web were I can download a copy and use a burned CD to MAKE a restore disk? Many thanks for the help and I'll look forward to your suggestions.

- Your computer probably has a built in system restore. Press F11 usually but mabe F10. press one of them when computer boots up or when you see the hp logo. Go to advanced options and click factory image recovery. When finished update your computer
- I think that HP will be able to provide you with a restore CD. But there is a shorter way to restore your system without loosing anything. Sign up for my tech forum, and ask your question there and I will walk you through all the step to do it. http://www.e9u.com
- Multiple virus software?Having more than one antivirus in your system doesn't mean twice the protection, means conflict between the 2 programs and a lot of headache for you. If you don't have the CD's for recovery then you should have a hidden partition with the recovery image on it.Look for a short message (like, press F11 for recovery) on boot. But you have to learn how to take care and maintain your computer, you can't use the recovery options all the time PS Before recovery you have to backup your personal files or you will lose them
- The HDD should have a partition on it with the restore files on it. I bought a Compaq from Circuit Cits and burned a backup file of Vista. You will want to save the files you may need afteer the restore
