How can I extend the shelf life of my ink cartridges?

My refilled ink cartridges dry out and clog up if i don't use them right away. I like to keep some extra cartridges ready for when i need them. Im guessing its oxygen clogging them, but is there any convenient way to make them last longer in my drawer?

1. seal them in a container with a piece of cotton dampened with distilled water. This fix only lasts about 30 days.
