- Don't get an HP. There's your answer.
- Ehm. Moneys kinda limited. HP ARE good. My favourite HP is the Pavilion dv5 its incredibly stylish, sleek, sophisticated, fast, 15.4" screen. make sure you get an intel celeron processor with atleast 2 GB of ram, no matter what computer you get. You shouldnt worry about memory, its cheaper to upgrade after you buy the laptop.
- As said before NEVER buy an HP they will FAIL, get a dell or toshiba, But NOT an HP
- You're going to struggle with your price range, the cheapest I've found is £369 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151190 You want to make sure if you're going for Vista to have at least 2Gb of RAM as Vista takes up 1GB to function on it's own. Also, don't bother with anything over 4GB as you won't see any effect from it (waste of money)
- hi mate for £300 you are not going to get something such as a sony vaio since these are £500 for the cheapest model and some can cost in excess of £1500 however there are some decent models avalible for example the Asus X58C-AP008A Intel Celeron 220 ( http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?product_id=20026853&rstrat=13449 ),and this has some excellent specs including a Intel Celeron 1.2GHz with a 533mhz fsb,1gb of ddr2 ram(upgradable to 4gb) and a 160gb sata hard drive graphics come in the shape of the SiS 968 igp(intergrated graphics processor) and other features include Azalia compliant audio chip,15.4ins TFT (Colour Shine) WXGA display and a dvdrw multi drive another laptop worth considering is the Acer Extensa EX5230-571G16Mn Notebook PC( http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?product_id=20025278&rstrat=13449 ) with features including : Intel Celeron Mobile (575) 2.0GHz Processor with 3072KB L2 Cache 667MHz FSB 1024MB (1x 1024MB) of DDR2 Memory 160GB 5,400rpm Hard Drive 15.4 inch WXGA High-Brightness TFT LCD, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution & Acer CrystalBrite Technology Integrated 3D Graphics, featuring Intel GMA 4500M with up to 1759 MB of Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 (64 MB of dedicated video memory, up to 1695 MB of shared system memory) Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11BGN WLAN 8X DVD-Super Multi Double-Layer Optical Drive 5-in-1 Card Reader 6 Cell Battery Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 1 Year International Travelers Warranty on a performance scale the Acer Extensa EX5230 is the better laptop mainly because the sis chipset is pretty bad when compared to the intel chipset however for £25 over your budget theres the "ESPRIMO Mobile V5535"( http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?product_id=20018908&rstrat=13449) which is based around a Intel Pentium Dual Core (T2330) running at 1.6ghz and with 1gb of ddr2 ram upgradable to 2gb this has a better overall performance when compared to the other two laptops other features include sis m672 graphics with a 15.4ins TFT LCD WXGA screen, and with a 120gb hard drive and multi dvdrw drive this has some excellent components for its low price i hope this helps, however any problems let me know good luck mate !
