What are the chances a laptop repair store would carry parts for a HP track pad?
The left button of the track pad is broken and can't be out back on because the hinges connecting it are broken. I have thrown the pieces away, revealing the first layer of the inner workings; the silicon nipple and the metallic hinges. The plastic outer casing is broken and the internal plastic hinges are broken. My Point: What are the chances a local computer repair store would have parts? Would they be able to repair it without opening the casing of the laptop?

- The chances are they won't have it, but how they work is that they buy in the parts and you pay for them to have that part fitted. So you will be able to get it fixed.
- The track pad is not difficult to get to. Normally the top lifts off and you can remove the keyboard and track pad. As for spares you will be lucky to find anyone with spares and if you can find someone then it will be expensive. I would either look for a broken laptop of the same model going cheap on ebay for a spare or just plug in a USB mouse.
- More then likely they'll have to send it into the manufacture, that is normally what most of these places do. I know that Geek Squad does that.
- Very slim
