Inkjet or Laser printer?
I just bought a inkjet printer, haven't opened yet. But I've been reviewing and noticed there are some "Brother" laser printers for reasonable prices. I was wondering which would be better to remain with my Canon inkjet printer or Brother laser printer?

- As a rule of thumb - go laser if you want to do lots of black and white printing. Go inkjet if you want to print in colour more often then is worth paying a copyshop to print for you.
- Depends on what you want to print and how much you want to pay. If your inkject is color, most likely the reasonably priced laser isn't and if color is important, then stick with the inkjet. If you want high quality printouts using postscript, then upgrade to the laser. Double check the dpi resolution. Most inkjets these days are pretty good and their print quality is good enough for every day printouts. But nothing beats a laser in sharpness. Also, inkjet printout bleeds with the slightest moisture even from your finger tips, but you won't get smears with laser printouts. The other major consideration is cost--not just the printer itself but the consumables. Ink jet cartridges are a lot cheaper than laser toner cartridges. On average, I'd say toner cartridges cost about 3 times what you would pay for an average ink cartridge. And if you do a lot of printing, that can add up.
- I own a Brother COLOR laser that I got for $199!!! (staples btw), it is great, it has better quality on text and you can highlight without it smearing. This printer is awesome (HL-4040CN) and it cost as much as my old HP AIO. RF. Also, the toners cost more but they last 5x MORE THAN AN INKJET CARTRIDGE. Lasers have a lower price per than even the cheapest inkjet cartridges.
- I'd take a look at this article -- it's intended to help people decide which kind of printer to buy based on their needs and how they intend to use the printer. http://www.castleink.com/_a-buy-printer.html
