- HP printers tend to be a bit more stubborn with drivers and Vista compatibility. Although you would think theoretically reinstall would be the same as uninstall, reinstall....It isn't. You'll need to rip out all HP related software and purge the registry of it (using a program like CCleaner). Then install fresh (I recommend using the drivers located on their website vs. an install Disk) using the latest driver pack. Although monstrous in size, I'd use their "Full" image (Usually in the 100's of MB). Reason? HP software can have conflict with it's previous versions of files but won't overwrite certain files, leading to conflicts, stability, etc.
- Hmmm... seems to be a lot of that going on lately. Ok -- Suggestion #1 : If you haven't already tried this, uninstall ALL of the drivers that you tried to use to get the HP 1610 running. Disconnect the printer from the PC. Reboot. Connect the printer to the PC, follow Vista's instructions. (This worked for Vista Ultimate and Vista Business) Do not use the drivers that came on the CD, or from HP website. :) Suggestion #2 : If you haven't already... download and install : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315&lang=en Suggestion #3 : Pick the error you are getting from the list on the following site : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?rule=15659&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315&lang=en ...and see where that goes. Suggestion #4 : Oops. ok you got me. out of ideas. Not a big fan of Vista... :)
- all the driver for vista from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=390315&dlc=en&lc=en&cc=us uninstall the drivers you have already by uninstalling the printer in add remove programs. disconnect the printer while installing the new driver plug the printer in and boot up the puter. If you have problems go through the hp website support, also be aware if it is an usb printer, the usb power may turn off. right click mycomputer >manage >device managerniversal serial bus. Right click all the devices listed one at a time>properties >power >select to leave the power on.
- first of all is your XP genuine--a burn off another computer do you have the disk? What is likely is the driver file from the printer is too old for the system to acknowledge. go to manufacturer's site try to get a newer driver(close counts sometimes) go to driver download and drop a few bucks if their scan shows an update. if your system isn't genuine the driver file (for printer) didn't download during set up of op. sys
