  1. The main and most important reason is that you have a slow processor (1.3 Ghz) and then the RAM....Upgrade both......further you can try to scan your computer for spywares and try to clean boot your computer..... CLEAN BOOT: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353
  2. 256 Mb is considered the bare minimum to run XP. If you are set on keeping this computer, more ram will help and you have an open slot for it. Before you buy anything, decide if this computer is worth upgrading. This is old technology. Faster computers can be bought for $500 at most retailer stores and have a lot more options for upgrading later. If the computer you have does everything you want and just need a little more speed, a ram upgrade will fix the problem.
  3. Add some ram. 256MBs is really weak. Go into msconfig startup and uncheck the boxes for progs you dont need starting up with Windows and running all the time. Cpus real weak too. Trouble isn't with the board. Real issue is that its old and slow, has a puny cpu and inept ram. Time to consider buying a new tower.
  4. im sorry that he computer was probably in date in 1998 or 1999 it would be really hard to get any half decent upgrades and if you could they would still be horrible to todays standards so yuo should go out and by a 500 pc
