what the %^#$ is wrong with my printer?

i have a Lexmark E232 laser printer. it used to work fine, but now when i turn it on, all the lights come on and don't move and when i try to print something , it says error. and i can't figure out what the error is. there's enough ink and paper. i need to print some papers for school and right now i just feel like kicking this printer out my window. suggestions? it's been like this for a while now, and sometimes if i turn it off and on and press random buttons for a while it works. but this time it isn't budging!

1. First off check for a paper jam and make sure the cartirdge is installed correctly. Your lexmark status monitor will tell you this. If it reads a cartidge, it is installed. If it doesn't say paper jam, there isn't one. If that all checks out. Unplug the printer. Restart the computer Plug the printer back in and try to print.
