- This has happened to me before. Vista is pretty cool, yes, but it comes with problems just like every other computer model. Sad. Anyway, I would think of to check your printer's settings, check with the troubleshooting center, the printer center.
- On Vista you need to install a network printer.
- This happened to me alot and others people. Go to the website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/ Well Vista don't have that supportive things like XP I mean I like Vista. But it is not the time to come for buying Vista yet. Lots of people still using XP as their OS. And that cause lots of Companies still using XP as main OS. Although lots of people now using vista. Hope this help you to install your software.
- be sure you can access the computer with the printer driver and the printer is shared. Also, be sure to log in as an administrator so that you can add the shared printer on the XP pc to your printers folder.
- on your xp machine, log in as administrator go to printer properties, share printer and give it a name. click start, click printers and faxes, right click on printer name, click properties, click sharing tab, click share printer radio button and type a share name. on your vista machine, download and install latest printer software driver for vista. then add a printer. it's easier if you have same workgroup as your xp computer. to change workgroup, right click on "My Computer", click properties and click Computer Name tab then click Change button (remember you must be logged on as computer administrator to make the changes) configure the printer on your vista machine, click start, click printers and faxes, click add a printer (welcome to add printer wizard pops up). Select Network Printer, Browse for a printer radio button and expand Microsoft Windows Network, locate and select the printer. once printer is setup you can set the printer as default printer and do a test print. good luck!
