- Your best bet for customization is through the website. Big box stores don't allow for customization, generally. I would pick the website: Prices may also be better than one of the other shops.
- A lot of places let you order it online and pick it up at the store. :]
- Online customization is great and you can generally get the best prices online. However, stores know this too and often have sales which might bring a system which has the specs your looking for down to a better price. Otherwise, quite often a store will offer "bundle" deals. If you just wanted the computer, I would probably lean on the online idea -- if you were thinking about a printer, cables, blah blah blah ... you might get a 'bundle' deal from a local retail store. If it was me, I would look at the ads in the paper and see what they were offering and if nothing exciting caught my eye, I would have no problems buying online.
- Recommend you buy a new Mac iBook as you can load both windows XP or MacOS plus is way more stable then PC's. To answer your question: From the store is a good idea, because then you can acutally see and get a good feel before you buy. In the store, you might be able to even work a deal and get an extended warranty thrown in (Dont ever pay for one) and other bits. Over the web is just relying on what you read and see images rather then face value. I have an HP laptop, was the top of its range back then and I bought directly from the store and got all sorts of goodies thrown in while my mate bought from Dell's website and it arrived 2 weeks late and delivered at the wrong address plus I had to go round there and help reconfigure as it was setup for a handicap person. All the best with your choice. God bless.
- You should get an HP laptop from Best Buy.
