hp digital camera suddenly the viewfinder won't show photos after they are taken but?

it will show as Im taking. Then it asks 'do you want to delete' and if I click my MENU/OK button the screen goes blank but the camera works fine otherwise.. Sort of. If I go to look through photos taken, same black screen. It's like it needs REBOOTED but none of the menus will show. ANy help??? I've tried taking out the batteries.

1. go into camera menu and find reset also, format the memory card if there are no photos on it
