HP Store Online

How would one go about Finding out What Parts are Compatible With My Motherboard.?

I have an HP 515n with a Trigem GL VE 2002052 Motherboard But it is no longer available. I need to add a video Card PCI is what i was told but all computer stores try to get you to but the most expensive items they sell. Or they want you to bring it to them & let them fix it.I can do the repair myself but I want to buy the item on ebay or newegg and i am not sure how you know what warts wil work and which ones won't

  1. read your motherboards manual and you will know everything. if you dont have one then go for it in your motherboards site. I would recommend you to go now then to rely on others coz nothing would be as good as self survey.
  2. HP Pavilion 515n CHAINTECH GSP5200T2 GeForce FX 5200 128MB 64-bit DDR PCI Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814145136 HP Pavilion 515n has: Front Side Bus Freq. 400 MHz Chipset name 845GL This is old technology. I would put the money towards buying an up to date system.
  3. The specifications for your machines can be found at the links below. I would print it out and take it with you to the local somputer shop. Show it to the tech support / computer sales guy and informed them that you are not in the market for anything on the high end products.
