HP Store Online

HP laptop choice/Dell or HP?

I have $700 saved up for an HP laptop, and can spend more than that possibly if my dad will pay for the rest. I don't know which laptop to get because they all seem basically the same. I like to upload pics/videos, I like to play sims 2 (and soon sims 3), download games, and of course go online which is probably the thing I do most on a computer. I would like a webcam but not totally necessary. Help! Does it matter where you buy your laptops or are they all the same? Best buy is having good deals right now on some of their laptops, I'm not totally sure about any other store. Suggestions? ALSO- Dells for the most part are a lot cheaper and I've heard mixed reviews over them. My family friends have a dell and it is pretty slow, but I've heard many good things about them also, so your opinion on that?

  1. Personally i would go for a HP they are robust, durable, and have a excellent back up service if you ever need it. i had to many bad experiences with Dell, always problems, i would never by another.
  2. HP :)
  3. I haven't tried HP but i got a new dell laptop and it's perect. It's fast and simple.
  4. I would have said HP, but you want to play high graphics games. I've heard great things about the Dell XPS. I have had a Dell Inspiron, and I hated it. But you may have better success with the XPS. They will run you more than 700 though. You need a heavy duty computer if you are going to edit video and pictures and play sims games. I currently have a HP Pavilion dv4. It is not the most heavy duty for serious gamers, but it does what I want. Also, my dad has a HP desktop and printer, and I have an HP printer. All have been fantastic. If you go for an HP, get one with a good graphics card with at least 256 MB of RAM dedicated just to the graphics card. It also depends on what version of Windows you get. I got my current HP laptop at Best Buy. They have a good selection and fairly reasonable prices. My laptop has 250 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, a built in card reader and WEBCAM. The layout of the keys and what you can do with the keys is really cool too. It has buttons right on the console that you can control Windows Media Player volume, skip trax, play/pause, etc. Hope you get the picture.
  5. I have top end Dell and HP laptops bought last December. The HP cost more is lighter and looks prettier. One of it's two hard drives has failed and HP insisted that I had to return the whole computer to fix it. (about 3 weeks). Using the mouse on the palm rest has badly scratched it. It uses Vista Home Premium. The Dell is faster, lasts longer on the battery, has a higher screen resolution and has had no problems whatsoever. It's palm rest is only slightly marked. It uses Vista Ultimate Given a choice of the two again I'd buy two Dells.
