HP Store Online

Manufacturers of HP tell me I can't upgrade my laptop. ?

They said I can not upgrade the hard drive, video card. I have the pavilion dv 5220us. Now I am told by other computer stores that i can upgrade and that they have the parts avail. Now...who should i listen to...the HP manufacturer or compUSA. I hope i can use their names on here...

An hdd is always upgradeable until you reach the max they have to offer (type,speed, and size}, but you will have to reinstall the OS and drivers.Most laptop v-cards are soldered in so it is more trouble than its worth, but can be done, memory is limited by the MoBo and OS you have and are useing(google you make and model to find out the max in specs).Processors are upgradeable but make sure you get the correct type/pin configuration.
  3. Physically you can upgrade the lappy, but the cost is not at all worth the effort. I would not recommend it.
