HP Laptops vs Dell Laptops...Which one do you prefer and why?
I am going to college next fall and I need a laptop that is fast, reliable, can hold a lot of files, and that will not crash easily or get viruses as easily as others. Which brand of laptop is better? HP is cheaper, but as you know cheaper isnt always the better choice. Help??

- both have there own problems.. i would not suggest HP to ANYONE that is buying a enw laptop.. they are great laptops but if somethig ever goes wrong then your kinda screwed.. they warranty repairs are CRAP.. my uncle sent in an hp laptop and it cam back with less ram nad a smaller hardrive than when he sent it in and what was wrong was still wrong.. dell are decent laptops as well.. warranty work is great tech support is awsome.. depending on who you end up talking to.. so i would say dell over hp.. but thats also my personal opinion.. hope it helps
- okay. everyone thinks awh dell is better than HP or HP is better than dell to tell you the truth..it does not matter on brand! it matters whats on the inside of a computer or laptop...like processor and ram what you want to look for in a computer is RAM the more ram the better! because it will be fast! so like get a laptop with 4 gigs of ram then PROCESSOR this is what is basically the brain of your computer! it tells the computer what to do and when to do it. it also controls how fast things are getting processed..so i say a intel core 2 duo is the best..just look at how fast they are like 2.8mhz and HARD DRIVE this is where you store things! so this depends on you normally this will seperate a 700 dollar laptop to a 900 dollar laptop. BATTERY very important! how long the batter will last so dont listen to other people who will say which brand is better! because its what is on the insdie
- i bought this computer and the price was affordable not to cheap not to expensive the hp pavillion dv6000 heres the pros and cons: http://www.pcmech.com/article/hp-pavilion-dv6000-notebook-review/ but honestly this computer will do your college justice just fine!! i luv it and its also a pretty computer
- i had a bad experience with an HP computer about 10 years ago. I've been buying Dell's ever since then. Between buying one for each family member and upgrading my own I've bought six. I like the ability to customize them online. Price-wise I've done well with them as well. I don't have anything negative to say about the HP laptops since I've never owned one. I have always had good experience with the three HP printers I've purchased.
- Don't get HP nor DELL, get a mac, Toshiba or IBM laptops. Hp is bad for life, I have a had 3 of them now all crash within 6months of getting them. Dell is about the same problem and their customer service support is pretty much none to existent. I strongly recommend MAC because you can get great service, lifetime protection from viruses and its worth the money because it lasts longer compared to the others.
- GO WITH MACBOOKS! They are the #1 used laptops on college campuses. The smallest one (the one i have) is only 4.5 pounds so you can carry it to class and everywhere. They have built in webcam and speakers. They hardly ever get viruses, it's kinda pricey but soo worth it. Between dell and HP, I'd go with Dell just because I did a lot of research before I bought mine too, and the consensus seems to be that Dells are the best pc comps.
- Neither, get a Mac, i just got my Macbook for my birthday, and it works great. It has extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors. And its the first environmental friendly laptop.
