  1. yeah thats a good deal. I know a Dell would be more expensive with those specs john u need to read up on ur stuff: Vista 32Bit can support up to 4 gb RAM. http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1196105&SiteID=17 http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1272502&SiteID=17 a dell with the core 2 duo at 2.ghz and 3gb ram would cost u more. The only downside about this HP pc is that you would get a bigger hard drive with dell
  2. you are getting ripped off. 32-bit operating system can only read up to 2GB of RAM. This computer has 3GB downgrade to 2GB and you should be fine. Also you might want to get microsoft office, works doesn't work along side office nor can it open documents made in office.
  3. That doesn't look like a great deal. You can get a similar configuration from Dell on an Inspiron 1525 for around $574. Start at the link below and try spec'ing out a similar machine. Look for a starting machine that has a good discount and go from there. http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/laptops_great_deals?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml You can always call too, they are usually really helpful and can help you find the best deal out there for what you want.
  4. Colin is right. VISTA can handle 4GB Max.
  5. It is a good notebook the real question is -Is it good for you? What do you plan on doing with it? this will tackle most things office related (an upgrade to MS Office is worth it if you plan on using any word processing or spreadsheets) If you want to play any hardcore games this isn't the right buy for you. This will handle most casual games as well as some older ones but don't expect much performance for any of the new games on the market. Overall it is a good buy though. Also Vista does support up to 4GB of ram but with the lower processor speed upping from 3GB to 4GB isn't going to make much of a difference.
