- Like I said in my other post Macs are good if you want the OS and the software that comes with it but if you want power for a better price just get an HP and partition your hard drive so you can run a dual boot and have both XP/Vista and Mac OSX.
- HP are pretty reliable. You can also but an extended warranty online direct from HP (about 1/3 the cost of Currys own). A Mac is a poor idea unless you are pretty sure you will be happy with its limited range of software or you are studying design - Macs handle graphics design software better. It is highly unlikely any educational or open source software you might need will runon a Mac.
- MAC all the way!!!! They can run almost all of the programs that you would like. Plus they are way more reliable. I am typing this on a vista dell and they pretty much suck. Also, vista is pretty much a failed version of OS so it will be a huge change for you either way you go. Get a MAC and you will not be disappointed.
- you would regret it yes , the MAC operating system is rubbish and used only by people who have a huge chip on their shoulders about how Microsoft is "taking over the world" ;0) Get the best laptop you can afford and if its running Vista then 3gb of ram and over is a good idea , although not essential. Go to Currys , get the make and model of the one you like then come home and see if you can get it cheaper online. If not , before you buy it a Curry's make sure you bug the salesman for free stuff , laptop bag free antivirus etc , if he wont give you anything for free tell him to go take a running jump ;0) Sorry i hate Curry's / PC World sales staff , all morons with no knowlage of computers , just try and sell you the most expensive and fill yuo full of BS along the way
