  1. After you installed the CDs (Drivers) and set the software up then all you have to do is plug the printer wires (Newer printers may have a USB but older printers may have big bulky prongs) into the correct ports and then of course, plug your printer into the wall. After that you should just be able to print. Most printer software has a "Test Page" button in which you can make sure the aligning is correct.
  2. First of all, are you sure that you're using a Windows Vista driver? I'm guessing that if the printer is that old, the CD that came with it wouldn't have had Vista drivers on it. The first link below is for updated drivers for your printer. The second link below is a page for how to setup the printer. The third link is where you can download manuals, etc. Hopefully, you'll find what you're looking for there. (Sorry I can't be of more direct help, but my printer is an Epson and the setup procedure may be different to yours.) Happy New Year to you.
  3. Your printer doesn't have a Vista driver according to HP's web site about this particular model. Take a look at this link to see what HP says about your model and the workaround they suggest to try and get it to work on a Vista computer http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808543&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=58152
