I have a HP J6480 all in one printer and wireless does not work for scan and fax?

My wireless will work to print but not to scan or fax from my notebook. HP was on with me for over 2 hours in two phone calls, and I downloaded a 1.5 hour program. No help. I am ready to return and stick with my laser by USB cable. Any suggestions?
