Whats reason for the naming convention of HP Printers?

Whats the diff. between photosmart, deskjet, officejet... Whats the diff. between photosmart, deskjet, officejet.. Why is there a Photosmart A,B,C,D series whats the difference?

1. Photosmart has features aimed at printing photos (memory card reader, photo paper tray, etc) Deskjet is for standard printing Officejet has office-type features (scanner, copier, fax, etc)

Photosmart- great photo quality prints but also are a great everyday printer A- compact photo printers C- photo quality all-in-one printers that include fax, copy, scan, and print D- photo quality printers that can also be used everyday Deskjet- regular everyday printers that also offer cool features like wireless Officejet- all-in-one printers that include copiers, scanners, and a faxer built in Laserjet- a laser printer that is either color or black and white
