- www.newegg.com 300 watts should do you fine but if your not sure get 400.
- You can spend a ton on these. For an older computer you are prob looking at 15-25 USD. http://www.directron.com/powersupplies.html
- To truly be able to answer this question, we'd need to know the model of your computer. The reason for this is that although almost any off-the-shelf power supply will work in almost any computer, some manufacturers (such as HP) will release models that require special parts from the manufacturer.
- power supplies stayed the same for a long time. The price just depends on how much power you need, and if your willing to go with a generic brand or not. My guess that for an older one you wouldnt need much more that a 300 watt power supply. For a generic brand you can find them around 20 bucks, and for ones that are guaranteed not to fail for a while, as in name brand ones, would be 20-40 depending if they are on sale. Good luck installing them, I have a small case and it was a pain in the a** to maneuver around everything
- Power Supply can be very cheap depending on what you need, since your didn't provide your HP model computer, here is a link where you can view cheap power supply: 1- http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=4093&Description=power+supply&name=%2410+-+%2425 2 - http://www.pricewatch.com/power_supply_for_case/ 3 - http://www.pricewatch.com/brands/power_supply_for_case/hewlett_packard-1.htm 4 - http://www.pricewatch.com/brands/power_supply_for_case/hp_compatible-1.htm
- Cheap should never be the way to go on a PSU. Spend 90 bucks on it if you need to, but it's better to do so than to get a 20 one that taps out and takes your HDD and other power connected things with it. I'd suggest a Corsair power supply, they're very good. I got a 85 dollar one (450W and has 33A on the 12V rail)
- There is a good chance the Power Supply for that computer is proprietary meaning its for that HP Model so you may have to check with HP. Tried to get a power supply for a neighbors HP and noticed it didn't take a standard PS so look into that possibility.
