i have a hp cd writer could i use another burner program instead of the one hp supplies?

i don't have the original installation disc and i will not pay what hp wants for the original. will another cd burner program work like the ones you download for free

1. Maybe, the CD Burner installed in your computer has to be supported by the burner software you intend to install.
2. You're better off using the one that comes with the drive, since you can count on that one working. Other programs will probably work too - the only way to know for sure is to try them and see.
3. .first two answers are total rubbish! as long as the drivers are loaded use what you like - Nero is my favorite
