My daughter stuck a little silver thing into the expantion port HP pavilion laptop shut down my laptop ?

My daughter stuck a piece of silver in the expantion port on my HP pavilion laptop and it shut down completely. Does that something is burned out inside?

1. Yes it possible that it screw up the motherboard as metal tends to break motherboard with magnets attractions.
2. If it was a metal piece that your daughter put into it then I'd suspect yes! You should take it to a service centre and have it removed and tested for damage.
